Glass house made out of newspaper.

With this animation I used newspaper (not stuck down) to create my glass house (silhouette) and then I had a white piece of paper in a ball hitting the glass house to "Shatter" the panel so it would all dismantle. The white ball then would slowly change the colour of the glass house into white paper instead of newspaper. then as you can see the paper then breaks away from being a glass house into being a big mess. The reason why I did this is because I was playing with the idea of newspaper but finding different ways to create the glass house and to make it vanish. A way to improve this would be to maybe have more typography so maybe have words writen on the newspaper to make it look more like it is typography.

Typography glass house

On this image I took the sentence and made it into a glass house cracking. I just simply repeated the words over and over again. This is a development of the drawn glass house but including typography. A way that I would improve this would to add the person and see if it would work the same as it would drawn. I would maybe also play with colour to see if it would look better in colour or in pencil.

"Broken"

With this animation I simply just did a range of different texts and then added colour. A way to develop this image would be to have the glass house pop up behind the text or infront. With this Animation I used the word "Broken" out of the sentence and focused it all around the one word to make it affective. I also used the same colours throughout so it would not look weird or the wrong colours would class with the right colours and then make it not loook appealing.

Sunday, 24 October 2010

For this animation I continued to experiment with the technique of taking photos of different stages of pencil drawings and using a different medium for the eye. I have developed my initial idea of having an egg split open to reveal something come out from inside as well as responding to my research of David Shrigley in the obviously hand drawn style of my animation.

Friday, 22 October 2010

for this animation i based it on two artists ive researched
the muted patchwork piece is styled on vanessa janss work
the bright coloured work is based on huck magazines illustrations and designs
i really think this is a good way of adding texture and colour into work without being too brash

Real Heart And Words

In this animation i have experimented using a paper massey heart and then put holes and cut into it to show that the heart is broken and then i wrote on it to show the sentence i have choosen .

CV build up of trust

Here, i had chosen an upsetting sentence so i tried to show her emotions in the animations rather than the words. this represents the trust she builds in herself and everyone around her while shes growing up then all of a sudden its taken and broken into pieces.

Light Means Grow Book

This animation could ahve been better if i changed the materials i used to graw the flower. i think that the font could have been better because i just used a stencil instead of drawing it myself. I do however like the idea of the animation and next time i will add the font in on the computer or at least draw it on the computer to make it look neater.

Light Means Grow

for this animation i have made a flower grow out of newspaper. i think that this animation would be better if i changed the material to tisdsue paper because for the flower it would look like petals instaed of a ball fo newspaper.

Skyscraper Experiment

BW Skyscraper Experiment
SK We must enslave these people
I wanted it to seem as i was interacting with my animation to make it seem more life like.

developing text animation

Clouds in heaven

Heart Puzzle Animation

This is a heart puzzle animation in hands. I ahev used different colour shows that not all hearts are perfect, also i have left spaces to show that the heart is not complete therefore it has been broken.

pencil animation

pencil animation of a man running and falling, this animation, inloved taking lots of pictures of a pencil drawing, taking as many pitures of a small event, to make it fluent.

typography, paper screwing up

Using typography, by slowly screwing up a piece of paper, which shows a new word each time. This is to try a method of showing typography.

flying dragon

My First Part of Development (Skeleton)

With this animation I drew out a skeleton with chalk and took photographs of it gradually so that when I played it fast it would look more fluent. I did this idea because in my quote it says the words "deep inside" therefore i wanted to show the emotion of feelings deep inside the human body, which is why I made the heart start beating. If I could change something I would make the font a lot more interesting because my main part of the project I decided to do was typography.

City trash

This animation did not turn out how I planned it to. This is because the first pictures of the animation were taken on a seperate camera but were lost and secondly, my picture taking is not equal and shows more than just the page, this makes it look scruffy and I did not have to time to crop these pictures. However, I like the idea itself and this will definately help me to develope.

dragon on whiteboard

Mad Scientist

This is a 'tester' animation, however, I don't particularly like the illustration itself, but the animation of the fluid going through the pipes works well. I can now see how this idea can be developed, for example, use other materials for the illustration like chalk or collage or oil painting.
As my sentence is about school, I have taken pictures of someone reading a book

Memory effect

With this design i decided to create a memory effect animation with newspaper and a little drawing. The reason why i picked the newspaper is because memorys are related to grey never bright colour, so I used newspaper to show this idea and it is alos useing another material. A way of improveing this image cpuld be to change the image inside the buble and also have the pictures being take in on spot instead of moving around the picture, i was also zoom into the picture more so that you can see the detail inside the memory.

this was such a fun animation to make
although i had to wait for the paint to dry, it was worth it
well that was until the paint started to hurt after a while

KS origami shark

This is my animation development of the background that i might be having for my final designed animation.

Lino printing

On this design i used lino printing by carveing letters into the material and only useing the letters to make a big impact instead of useing images. I also did the words backwards because one of the artists that I researched I like so I used their idea that was simpilar for insporation. A way to improve this would to maybe add a picture.

Glass heart, turning into a tear drop.

This image was my next development of my idea of having a glass house. I changed the glass house to a glass heart because its still link to the book and the idea of the heart breaking shows that the glass house breaking and that both things are very important to this character. I decided to add the tear dropping from the heart just to show the sadness and to show her emotion of a running stream of tears. A way to improve this would be to have the tear drop looking the same throughout and also changing the heart from moveing away from the tear to the tear moveing away from the heart. I created this animation by drawing on my fridge (it has a white background) with a blue marker.
SK Chain Face
I created this animation using a pencil, a rubber and a camera.

CV a walk home

this was experimenting for graphics
SK Death by collage
This was the first animation I created entirely out of collage. It allowed me to see how a collaged animation looked and has given me more insight into how to develope my work.

chocolate temptation

I tried to carve a word into chocolate to see how easy or difficult it was. i found out that it is rather difficult to carve a curved letter so whatever font i use has to be rather simple. i will try to use different types of chocolate to develop my animation.

Sunday, 17 October 2010

I added pictures of me walking through a field whilst the cupcake flowers are growing.

attempted to make another animation for development
this time i did it in half collage half drawn work
im not as keen on this method as its too jumpy for my sentance
i prefer the last one i did

Idea one of "What if the glass house has been broken."

With this animation I took a picture of each small section of the image just by drawing a glass house and then a person walking on and throwing a rock, shattering the glass house. I think this worked well as a first idea of my title from the kiss book which is "What if the glass house has been broken." A way of improveing this could be to have the camera in one place and not moveing, just so you can focuse on the image more. I would also cut the image dow a little too.

Friday, 15 October 2010

This piece was drawn by hand, photographed and edited in photoshop. It is part of my development.

Girl with incredibly long neck

okay so i had to make another animation
and this one i have to say im super super proud of
after two hours, 630 photos and a major bout of hand cramp
here it is :)

Text Experiment 3

This is my 3rd attempt at animating text. Here I combined the techniques I used in the two previous animations and I think this one works better.

TL trial 5

Experimenting using biro pen to draw the animation (no shading added just the outlines of the animation)

Development Tryout 2

Development - Try 2

In this animation, I poured bath salt crystals bit by bit and spelled the word ''Filled'' (which was another word from my chosen sentence). I took still images as I did this and put it all together using Windows Movie Maker. I like how it worked out but some of the images i took weren't clear and they were a bit fuzzy which sort of spoiled it a bit.

"Slipt" animation

Animation of stones made from collage to create the word "slipt", the stones are lots of small cut up magazines. I like this idea to make the illustrations.

CV christening experimenting

This is a part of my sentence that i chose to use, to experiment on ways i could present it.

Development Tryout 1

Development - Try 1

I have took still photos of writing and animating the word, ''Explosion'' which was the last word of my chosen sentence. I think it worked out really well and liked the idea of rubbing the word out after I wrote it.

House across the river

Alas i cannot swim

Oops

Boyfriend

Heaven

Heart pebble animation

I took influence from a piece of research i collect, this was of a heart painted on broken rocks, therefore i made it my own by using pebbles. I think this as it shows that a broken heart can be put back together.

Trapped in a glass
This was an experimental animation I created so i could develope my ideas futher. I used a white board and stop-frame photographs.
Drawn/ Collage a bit blurry so need to sharpen on photoshop.
My second experiment on animation using photoshop.
Experimenting on different animation to see which one is the best for me to work with.

CV Trial 2

This was my second trial developed around the sentence 'the world is your oyster.' Here i started experimenting with colouyr within my animation.

CV Trial 1

This was my first ever trial/animation. i chose a simple short word to deal with to start off with.

CV The World Is Your Oyster

This is my animation to show 'The World Is Your Oyster.'

CV Quarter To You Trial

This was my Second Ever animation. This was just a trial to link to my sentence, 'Quarter To You.'

CV Quarter To You

This is my animation i mdae in graphics based around the sentence ' Quarter To You.'
This was my fourth animation.
Go Everywhere, Do Everything, See Everyone 2
Here I was just experimenting with a continuous animation where the end is the start. However it was unfinished.

Lonely People

This animation is made from frames that have been drawn in my book. i drew them as a whole page and then cropped them in photoshop. i enjoyed drawing them in my book and seeing them made into an animation. however i dont think this is the best way to make an animation. it doesnt look right when playing. i prefer using photographs.

City scape

This animation started as a visual response in my book but i liked how, when put together the images flowed and it shows a drawing in the making. Unfinished.

A kenco coffee animation by Chris Warland using coffee beans, each slide is a different photo. i found this really effective, i also enjoyed doing this animation, was alot of fun.
Heart Surgery
This was my first illustrated animation for the sentence: Keep Calm and Carry On. It allowed me to experiment further and how to make an animation from free hand drawings. This method was my favourite as it allowed me the most freedom and detail within my idea.

"The time of your life kept close to your heart"

This animation is my final trial and was not done on photoshop like all the other animations, it was created with water colours and paint. I just simply took a picture of the whole image and saved each section to creat an animation effect. I think this image has imporved from all the rest, but there is still room for improvement.

Because you're worth it

This is an animation created using photographs from the internet and fonts from photoshop. it was difficult to crop and size the images correctly but i think it worked much better than drawing words. i really liked using photographs because they are easy to manipulate once you know how. i liked making the fonts move around and it was easy due to the layers on photoshop. i did however use more frames this time and it looks a lot better, the movements flow more.
Keep Calm and Carry On
The third animation which allowed me to experiment with motion; when the tear runs down the face.

you either love it or hate it animaion by hand drawing the slides

TL trial 4 - Drawing

Hand drawn animation

Trial 4 - 12 frames of ''You can't blame gravity for falling in love''.

This was my first hand made animation. I created 12 frames using collage, acrylic paint, Photoshop and images to animate my sentence. I really liked the way it worked out but I think if i was to make more frames of Cupid's arrow falling down to Earth then it might have looked better as there are only a few frames showing this and it's not clear enough to show what's going on. I also think it's a too fast, that you might need to view it twice to actually read the sentence properly.

Trial 3 - ''I have five clocks in my life, and only one has the right time...''

This is my fourth trail which is like the third animation but here i am playing with the idea of an image and then takeing away the people so it becomes more of a memory effect. I also changed the colour and the layout of the writeing just to see which one would look better (with layout and colour).

I was a lone wolf

I used fonts in photoshop to create a sentance and saved each word as a different frame. i moved each word to a different place on the screen so when it played as an animation it looked like it was moving along the sentance. i liked using ready made fonts because it was neater than writing it myself. if i could have improved it i would have made more slides to make it longer.

Trial 2 - ''You can't blame gravity for falling in love''.

In this animation, I've used Photoshop to create frames and developed my skills from my first trial by playing around with images and fonts.

TL trial 3

Animation co-operating with images along with words and sentences

Flanders field

This was supposed to be attempt number three and show progression from my first two trials but instead it looks like a PowerPoint slid show, i think this is because the background in now fluent, the images are inconsistent and amateur.

animation 4

First Trial - ''SomeOne''.

For my first trial, I used Adobe Photoshop and wrote the word 'Someone' bit by bit in different frames to create an animation.
This is my third trail, which is "The time of you life, kept close to your heart", which i found as a bit of research. With this animation as you can see i have used two different colours to contrast each other. I also had the last two words come up together to make more of a powerful effect. To get across to the viewer that these two words are important.

Elly =)

This was my very first attempt at animation.

Can you see him through the clouds?
Go Everywhere, Do Everything, See Everyone
This was my second ever animation. It allowed me to experiment with typography in an animation.
"Beware of the children" was someone elses idea which i used and had to recreat an animation from. Its simple, but simply just trying out a colour in the text.

trial 2

You Either Love It Or Hate It!

This is a animation using seperate slides, and putting them in order to make a small animation

Trial 2 - animation on a sentence

Ride It

I wrote the words Ride It by using the paintbrush tool in photoshop. i worte it line by line to turn it into an animation. I like the way this looks because it looks liek someone is writing it on the screen. to improve this i would ahve changed the colour of the writitng and try to use a different font but this would be difficult.

Tulip

This is my favourite because i animated it myself then made into the animation also i like that it tells the story of a flowers life cycle. the text makes sense and fits with the drawings.

trial 3
First trail, four leetter word which was love

Alas I cannot swim

Animation of using seperate screens then adding them together in order to make slide show.

Trial 1 - short animation on a word

Third animation
This animation is composed of scanned in pen drawings which I then edited in Photoshop and put into seperate frames.
FOUR

Final Trial

This is my final trial, i learnt alot from this trial as it showed me that block colour does not look very good on this, therefore i will not be doing that in my future project. However i like how the collaged newspaper forms around the words as it relates to the word that it being made.
this is my first trial with the word star

Eat your greens

This is my third trial, i think i experimented with pictures. I like the way i have incorpated this images into the words as i feel the words relate to the picture therefore giving the words an even deeper meaning and making it more eye catching.

Second animation

Can you lie next to her and give her your heart?

This my second trial, i this is a saying . I think this saying has meaning and incorporates different fonts and sizes, this is something that i learnt from my first animation as it showed me the importance of how objects are laid out on the page.

First animation

LOVE

This is a trial on photoshop on making an animation, i used the word love as i feel it is a very powerfull word with many meanings. From making my first animation it has shown me how things progress over time and how important it is to make sure that very thing is in sequence.

This is my favourite animation, it shows a cacoon breaking apart and the butterfly becoming free whilst at the same time the seasons are changing.
         The words seaside (trail 3)
This is my most recent animation and I  used my first title I found to create the animation on paper. I liked designing it this way and scanning onto the computer because I think it looks more effective and creative.
My first drawn animation trial, 'Juice'

Army men

This is the whole of one of my two sentences. This sentence was chosen from another class mate, and I wanted it to look like it was being drawn on paper.

make the most of what you have

This was my second trial for this title so I added a couple of illustrations to it, however I'm still not 100% happy witht the outcome. Therefore on my next animation I will try a different title with drawings and designs of my own.
The word slug drawn (trail 2)

a one man army

a one man army

hand drawn animation
This is my first attempt of designing my animation for the other title I was given. I chose to play around more with the colours for the background and font so it didn't look as dull, however I still thought it looked a bit plain and boring. Therefore on my next animation for this title, I intend to possibly add illustration.

bath

This animation is the first 6 words of one of my two chosen sentences.
An animation of typed words (trail 1)

The Trick To Life is.....
This animation is the last one I completed and it is hand drawn. I used a combination of collaging, ink painting and watercolour pencil drawing in this piece.

Wednesday, 6 October 2010

This was my second trial of animation but my first time of designing something quickly for my quote which was Go Everywhere, Do Everything, See Everyone. I kept it very simple again but just change the font size and colour of the text. I also played around with the timing a little bit more on this one than my first attempt, 'Walk Run.'
This animation is a quote from Nicola from Girls Aloud. It was a lot more complicated to do and I used more creativity for it.

An animation of words

My first animation that shows the word 'shot' being written. I had to choose one word from one of my two sentences.
My first ever animation =)
This was my first animation I did and I made it simple first just to understand and play around with how it worked. I made each line of a letter appear individually so it would look more fluent when i played it fast. I also made the word 'walk' slightly slower than the word run as it made more sense to and also I made the word 'walk' go diagonally downwards to seperate it more from 'run'.
First font trial.  also pretty bad 'juice.'
My 2nd Animation

A animation of beach huts I have drawn.
My 3rd Animation

trial 1-help!
Trial One of the animation project. really lame...' wave'
My 4th animation attempt... looks a bit bouncy?!
This is my third trial of our animation course, ' Ideas grow better when planted into another mind.'

favorite and final animation
this one took a bit longer doing all the frames but it was worth it :)
This is the full quote from the fashion magazine and was created using photoshop. It was made by flicking between different words on the page.

second attempt at animation
this time i used different fonts, colours and images :)

first attempt at photoshop animation
its a bit rubbish but it was my first try :)
This simple animation was made, on photoshop, by just adding a section to each letter. It was taken from a quote I found in a fashion magazine. The full quote is on one of my other animations.

hand drawn animation
